All physical therapists are not experienced in treating the spine. In graduate school, therapists are trained to treat general conditions, much like a family physician is trained to treat general medical conditions. When you have a serious heart issue, your family physician knows you need someone with additional skills and will refer you to a cardiologist.
Physical therapists are not good at referring patients to more experienced physical therapists because they believe it will negatively impact the success of their practice. They will try to treat you, even without significant training or experience.
The spine is complicated. You need a physical therapist that specializes in the spine, so you don’t end up having surgery when it isn’t needed. Sadly, SPINE PT has met hundreds of patients who had surgery after physical therapy “didn’t work” for them. After asking a few questions, it was obvious these patients were NOT seen by a physical therapist trained in the spine and their symptoms were ones that are successfully treated all the time at SPINE PT. If you have ever had physical therapy in the past, you will understand why the following bullet points set SPINE PT apart.
